Uplink review [PC]
Have you ever wanted to be a hacker and take over the world? Uplink is a game that is not very much like that. Uplink is a game about the color blue and hacking for money so you can hack better and get more money.
The premise of the game is that you are a hacker who needs money so that you can afford a monitor that can display more than one color. You join an elite hacking collective called Uplink and must perform hacks on companies and other hackers to get credits so that you can buy more hacking tools and get more credits. First, I will go into detail on the hacking mechanisms of Uplink.
In Uplink, you play as a script kiddie who knows nothing except for the file structure of linux and how to execute programs. In the world of Uplink, those who are able to run programs are a valueble commodity and your skills are worth a lot of credits. To hack, you run a program and click on a textbox and the program will hack the password for you while dramatic music plays. The music is very good. Then you have to click really fast and copy or delete files before the cops find you. Then you have to go and painstakingly delete logs on the site you hacked. The game is confusing and has a really bad tutorial.
As you play Uplink there is also a storyline. An evil corporation is trying to take over the internet and you can either join them or stop them. Also if you get caught your save is deleted and you have to restart. This hardcore game is only for the most hardcore gamers that will not destroy property when they lose progress.
The graphics in Uplink are blue. If you have keen eyesight, you may be able to spot some greens and reds. If you like blue you will like Uplink because it has a lot of blue.
Overall if you like blue or think you are a hacker then get Uplink but only for PC video gamers.
