Mount & Blade review [PC]
I'm sure that all of you video gamers reading this have heard of knights and castles and etc. A game that takes with the ideas of olde and combines it with the hack and fighting gameplay that we are all used to is Mount & Blade. Lets dive in further, shall we?
The main premise behind Mount & Blade is Skyrim. You are a knight who wanders around the medieval world doing quests and gathering an army to defeat Sir Fortix at the end of the game. The plot is kinda confusing and all over the place. One time I'm at a castle and some other times I'm being attacked by some bandits. Sometimes they captured me and stole some of my stuff. I escaped, though, so it was okay...
The fighting in Mount & Blade: Brotherhood goes like this: You can swing your sword in 4 directions. If there's a bad guy within swording distance, you should try to swing at him. I noticed that sometimes they block the swings, which can be frustrating for beginner players. For the purpose of this review, I let my grandma play this and she didn't even know how to play it because the Steam version didn't even come with an instruction manual! I wasted twelve and a half whole dollars buying the Mount & Blade Complete Trilogy pack on Steam and it didn't even give me an instruction manual. Next time I'm buying my games on Origin.
The main gimmick for Mount & Blade is the ability to ride on horses. For the first couple of hours it's pretty cool. You can hold your mouse1 button and then release it when your sword is in the range of an enemy, but it's on a horse this time. Sometimes your house can die, though. But if it does, you can just take the horse of an enemy who dropped it. All is well.
After you play with the horses and swords and stuff, you'll probably try out the ranged fighting. You can use bows and crossbows, but bows are much better. Crossbows do more damage and are more accurate, but take way too long to reload. What's worse is that if you try to move when you're reloading, it stops reloading it! Sometimes I run out of arrows.
The graphics in this game are acceptable. The trees usually look like trees and the people usually look like people. The thing that differentiates this game's graphics from the rest of the crowd's game's graphics is the colors. Most games have lots of browns, grays, blues, and a host of other modern, boring colors. This game on the other hand has all sorts of colors. There are bright pinks, bright greens, bright yellows, and all of the expected colors, too. This game is basically a visual masterpiece.
In the end, if you have a PC, you should get this game if it looks interesting to you.
