Minecraft Review [PC]
Minecraft. If you've ever been a PC video gamer, then you have at least heard of this game. It's the newest and most latest indie retro Minecraft building game. It was developed by Bethesda as "Doki Doki Panic" in the late 2005, but they threw it away in early 2006 to work on some Wii games. Indie "developer" Notch was rummaging through Bethesda's back dumpsters one day and found it. He renamed it to "Minecraft" and sold it on the internet for thirty dollars.
Just like games on the SNES and N64, the world is made out of blocks that you can destroy and put in different places. I'm pretty sure I remember doing that in Donkey Kong Country back in the eighties. Anyway, there are two different block types in Minecraft: grass and stone. Grass is generated into the world naturally and cannot be replaced once destroyed, so you have to protect your grass from the enemies.
Speaking of enemies, there are ten different types of enemies in Minecraft. There are creepers, spiders, pig monsters, slime cubes, Steves, squids, cows, grunts, possessed armor, and the wall of flesh. Once you defeat four of each type of bad guy and eat their souls, a gateway appears which takes you to the Aether. In the Aether, you can fight the Ender Dragon, which is the dragon from Skyrim but black.
One of the best parts of Minecraft's gameplay is the variety of weapon choices. There are swords, shields, maces, flails, spells, wands, bows, crossbows, flamethrowers, and a host of more other weapons for you to discover. Most of these weapons can be created by killing a series of enemies in a certain order. For example, if you kill a creeper, then a squid, then a Steve, then you get a Eaglescream Deathblow Criticalstrike Sword. The only other way to get this sword is to preorder the game.
One thing that I listened to in Minecraft is the sounds. I didn't hear any sounds, I turned my sound volume all the way up to eleven (rofl) but I didn't hear any of the sounds. I would have liked it if there was sounds probably.
Once you get all of the crystal orbs from all of the Steves and then fight Skyrim, you get to read the ending poem. It doesn't make any sense and there are a lot of symbols that change all around. I got really confused. I looked up what it meant on the internet, but even they didn't know!
In the end (get it; the end??) you would probably be better off playing Donkey Kong Country because it's basically the same thing.
Gameplay.............6
Graphics................2
Compatibility.......5
Sound.....................0
Story.......................3
Overall..................16
Pick it up on Steam-- if you dare...
