Hotline: Miami Review [PC]
Hotline: Miami is a retro indie beat 'em up game by Nemesys Games in 2012. It is often praised for its violence, music, and headaches it produces. But can a game with so much hype and determinated fans behind it really live up to all of our expectations? We're here to cut through the chase, first hand.
When I tried playing Hotline: Miami, it didn't work! The game was broken, to say the least. It said that I needed at least DirectX 7 to play it! I don't understand what goes through indie game developers' heads these days. I think that I should be able to play any game no matter how many graphics I have and sub-terabytes I can transmute per second. I feel like this is almost an insult to retro gamers, like me. I should be able to play any modern game on my 1997 laptop as long as it has the word "retro" in the description.
Something that really annoyed me is that I could not get a refund on the game. Someone on Steam gifted it to me, so it would be rude to exchange it for a functioning product, such as Skyrim for PS3. I suppose I'll review it from what I know from the screenshot in the top left corner.
Hotline: Miami is a game similar to Star Wars: Dark Forces II, as everybody wants you dead. You can pick up weapons that you find on the ground and use them on the bad guys that wants you dead. It looks pretty interesting from what I've seen. I heard that the music is pretty good. So, uh, that's all I've got.
Gameplay..........................0
Graphics.............................0
Compatibility..................-3
Sound.................................7
Story....................................0
Overall................................4
Pick it up on Steam-- if you dare...
